China’s leading cloud computing company, Inspur Group Co. Ltd. has picked Ghana for its regional headquarters in West Africa. According to Peter Sun who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Inspur Group, the decision was because of the impressive economic outlook, and the enabling business, political and peaceful climate in Ghana.


Also, the Chinese based automotive design and manufacturing company, SAIC Motor Corporation Ltd. expands to Tunisia as they sign a new deal with Tunisian firm, Meninx Holding to set up a plant that will serve both the African and European markets.


In the start-up scene, the leading financial technology accelerator in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, FinTech Hive has announced the commencement of its 2018 accelerator programme in partnership with Accenture which two African fintech start-up; Amplified Payment System Ltd (Nigeria) and PaySky (Egypt) were selected.

The accelerator programme consists of a 12-week curriculum in which a group of selected finalists will work closely with financial institutions and other stakeholders to create innovative solutions aim to address the evolving needs of the region’s financial services industry.


AlphaCode, a club for next-generation fintech entrepreneurs has announced four start-ups to join its R2.5million accelerator programme called AlphaCode Accelerate. The start-ups include; Entersekt, Livestock Wealth, Click2Sure and Invoice Worx.


The two-year accelerator programme together with scale-up accelerator, 10X-e will provide start-ups with mentorship, expert guidance, and support services.

Meanwhile in the telco industry, South Africa’s private equity company, Harith General Partners Pty Ltd. has invested over $1 billion  in infrastructure into a fibre-optic cable network in Malawi.
