In order to help tap into the growing data storage needs of local and regional businesses in Kenya, Telkom Kenya has launched its new data centre in Nairobi… The Ksh 150 Million data centre is situated at Nairobi’s Upper Hill area and will help the company improve its network quality, colocation and hosting services, internet connectivity and local loop connectivity.


In the Gold Coast region, Blossom Academy, Data science talent accelerator has launched in Ghana…  The accelerator aims to provide a talent pipeline for start-ups and equip university graduates with relevant skills.


Over 10, 000 Kenyans Dump Twitter And Join Gab After Influential Blogger Was Banned…  This sounds unbelievable right? Well, it’s not.  Gab has reported that over 10,000 Kenyans have joined its growing list of users because of the suspension of Cyprian Nyakundi. The controversial blogger was suspended by Twitter for violating Twitter rules by posting some photos.


EDF Invests in SunCulture, Kenyan Solar Start-up…  SunCulture, the Kenyan start-up that develops solar-powered water pumps and irrigation solutions for smallholder farmers has secured an investment fund from the EDF Group.


Team C-Stell Wins AFF’s //Re:Code Nigeria Hackathon 2018 Challenge… Team Cosmos Constellation, C-Stell has been announced winner of the //Re:Code Nigeria Hackathon 2018 tagged “Data Hack” amidst 115 team of developers, designers, and code magicians that participated in the 3-days hackathon organized by the African Fintech Foundry.

Early-stage start-ups can now apply to win $10,000 at Techpoint Build West Africa… Participating startups will be eliminated down to 12 finalists. While there will be only one winner, other finalists also get to pitch to a room full of potential local investors and foreign investors in a closed Deal Room.


On TGA’s Start-up Spotlight this week, we take a broader look at Cowtribe, Ghana’s first mobile abled on-demand service platform for veterinary extension.  With Cowtribe, farmers make appointments with professional veterinarians via mobile phone.
