We kick off today’s big 5 with the news on the just concluded Innov8Agric Challenge which saw Smart Farms win the challenge. Smart Farms will now compete with other selected African agric-tech start-ups: Qualitrace (Ghana), AgriQ & Automations (Kenya), and Spiderbit (Rwanda) for a $5,000 grant price at the international Meet the Farmers Conference.


Moving on, Bosun Tijani, founder and CEO of CCHub has announced the launch of Nimcure, a digital patient care tool together with the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research. Nimcure is to assess the extent to which digital health can impact adherence to Tuberculosis (TB) treatment.


In the same vein, Digital Nation Africa is coming to Nigeria. Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Secretary, Akin Oyebode has announced that the organisation has partnered with IBM to bring its programme to Lagos State.


According to CNN, One of China’s biggest smartphone makers has dominated markets across Africa and has never sold a handset in the country. CNN did a report on how Transsion, Tecno, Infinix and itel maker on how they are making waves in the African market and being a force to reckon with in the category of smartphone producers.


Huawei Launches AI Computer for Cars to Enable Autonomous Driving… Huawei has revealed more details about its upcoming Mobile Data Centre computer — the MDC 600. This new computer is aimed at providing AI capabilities to vehicles.
