Have you heard? The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is planning to eradicate fraud through its new bank verification number (BVN) guideline and additional rules. They will leverage the rules to fight fraudulent bank customers and e-fraud.
Guess what? California-based Adesto Technologies has revealed plans to work with utility providers across Africa and the Middle East to pilot a new smart meter. The smart meter will leverage Adesto’s G3-PLC device to enable reliable, long-range communication over the existing powerline grid.
Next on the Big 5, Founder Institute, a pre-seed accelerator based in Silicon Valley has appointed Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr (CFA) as its Regional Director. This appointment is coming after he was selected among the four Directors of Founder Institute (FI) Lagos.
Also, Facebook has launched Facebook Viewpoints a new market research app, that aims to reward users who participate in surveys, tasks, and research. The app requests that Facebook users give their data in exchange for points that can be converted to cash.
Finally, Twitter has pushed back its plans to deactivate accounts and usernames that have been dormant for 6 months or more. Twitter paused the plans due to complaints received from users. They accused the platform of being insensitive to memories of loved ones and celebrities that have passed on.
