Drum roll! Data Science Nigeria has launched the first AI (Artificial Intelligence) textbook in Africa. The book is titled ‘Beginners’ Artificial Intelligence & Python Programming for Primary and Junior Secondary Schools’, and written by Olubayo Adekanbi.

Next on the Big 5, the Kenyan government has requested for Facebook to disclose the data of its citizens to them. The report form Facebook reveals that Kenya has requested for the information on five separate occasions.

There is also news that, due to the new licensing framework of the Ugandan Communication Commission, MTN Uganda will be paying a higher fee to acquire the country’s Telecommunication License in Uganda.

Also, asset management and finance company ‘Mergence Group’ has secured a 26% stake in 2Engage, a fintech company. This acquisition aligns with its vision to expand across the globe.

Finally, Samasource an AI and data company headquartered in San Francisco with operations in New York, Hague, Kenya and Uganda has secured $14.8 million Series A funding. They will leverage it to boost the AI technology across East Africa.
