Drum roll! The Ethiopian government and China-based Infervision Technology Corporation, have partnered to build a National Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure in the country. This aligns with the government’s plan to make the country’s ICT sector a socio-economic development driver.
Next on the Big 5, the Global Disability Innovation Hub and Amref Enterprises Limited have unveiled five African startups as its 1st cohort’s finalists. The startups will join the Innovate Now Accelerator program.
Guess what? The Financial Times has revealed that big tech companies in China are using Zimbabwe’s as lab samples to build facial recognition that will track & identify black people.
Also, Migo, a credit facility startup based in Nigeria has secured $20 million Series B funding to foster cross border expansion. The round was led by Valor Group Capital with participation from Africinvest and Cathay Innovation etc.
Finally, Twitter has updated its global privacy to align with its new privacy requirements. The new policy borders on how data is shared. The change will take effect from the 1st of January 2020 aligns with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
