Big news! Farmcrowdy Group, Nigeria’s foremost agritech company has unveiled Crowdyvest – an impact-driven platform which connects individuals to multiple sponsorship opportunities. Crowdyvest will span across Agriculture and other platforms. It will also share its sponsorship risk with its sponsors. Nice initiative!
Branch, an International micro-lending with operations in Africa has secured $5 million. They will leverage this fund to boost lending services in Kenya and also grow its product portfolio. This new funding totals the number of funds secured by Branch locally to over $14.4 million, that is KES 1.5 billion.
Also, Flutterwave- an Africa-based fintech platform has partnered with Alibaba – a Chinese leading e-commerce company, to boost digital payments between China and Africa. While Alibaba will leverage this partnership with Flutterwave to capture payments activities between Africa and China, Flutterwave merchants will through the partnership access Alibaba’s 1 billion users. Great initiative, don’t you think so?
Have you heard? Camatica, a South Africa-based facial recognition startup has launched Mood Analytics, a facial recognition software. The new software will be able to recognize one’s mood just by scanning the person’s expression. This software ‘Mood Analytics’ was launched in a bid to boost employee performance in the workplace. Finally, Jumia, Africa’s e-commerce giant, has partnered with Vivo Energy—a retailer and distributor of Shell and Engen-branded fuels and lubricants to deepen their services across Africa. Through the partnership, Vivo Energy’s retail service stations will be used as pickup and drop off points for customers while Jumia’s customers will have the opportunity to place orders and pay at designated service stations.
