Drum roll! Lentara Africa has won Innov8Agric’s Challenge $5000 grand prize. The agritech company won the prize at the just concluded Meet the Farmers Conference—an agro conference organized by Crenov8 Consulting and held in Dubai.
Have you heard? Jumia has yet exited another country. The e-commerce company shut down operations in Tanzania, shortly after it left Cameroon. This exit reduces Jumia’s presence to just 12 countries.
Next on the Big 5, the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Public Education Officer Bisi Kazeem, has clarified the Corps ban on the use of Google maps while driving. She clarified that against the initial belief that the corps is banning the use of the app on transit, the FRSC is only sensitizing the people on the need to drive safely.
Also, Strive Masiyiwa & Melinda Gates intends to boost tech transformation in emerging economies. To this end, they both launched a new Digital Manifesto under the umbrella of the pathway for prosperity commission in Nairobi, Kenya.
Finally, a report by GSMA has revealed that mobile technologies and services added $191 billion to the MENA region’s economy in 2018. This amount is about 4.5% equivalent to the region’s GDP. The report further forecasted that the contribution will hit $220 billion by 2023.
