Big news! Dutch-based off-grid solar power company ‘Lumos Global’, has secured a $75 million grant from the Federal Government of Nigeria. They will leverage the funds to power about one million Nigerian homes by 2025.

Next on the Big 5, world-class network& internet solutions provider, MainOne has announced that its submarine cable is live and ready for service in Cote d’Ivoire. The company plans to provide skills that will scale infrastructure sharing and reduce the cost of broadband services to the region.

There is also news that South Africa’s Competition Commission has given service providers in the country an ultimatum to reduce excessive data prices. The providers have two months to reduce the price of face prosecution.

Also, Nigeria has renewed its agreement with the British government to develop a six-year Broadband development plan. The plan is expected to boost broadband penetration levels between 65% to 66%.
