Drum roll! Microsoft and the African Development Bank (AfDB) partnered to launch a ‘Coding for Employment’ digital training platform. They will leverage this to provide African youths with digital skills.

Guess what? A recent report from the Nigerian Communications Commission has revealed that Nigeria’s GSM internet users amassed to 123,206,103 in October 2019. With telco’s like MTN Nigeria and Airtel gaining over 800,00 internet subscribers.

Next on the Big 5, NileSat has partnered Thales Alenia Space to manufacture and deliver an in-orbit communications satellite in Egypt.

Also, a report by Truecaller has revealed that telecommunications companies in Nigeria are responsible for 85% of spam calls and SMS received in the country.

Finally, in a bid to expand its financial service offerings, MTN has launched MTN Homeland. The mobile remittance application is targeted at African’s in Europe.
