Big news! In a bid to stop software piracy in Africa, Microsoft has launched Windows PC Affordability Initiative. The initiative will offer affordable software across Africa in partnership Acer, Asus, Dell, Intel, Lenovo, Musek and SMD Technologies.
Next on the Big 5, 14 African startups have been selected for the IMPULSE accelerator program. The selected startups will undergo 12 weeks of intensive training with a chance to win $250,000.
Guess what? Airtel Africa wants to list its Malawi subsidiary on the Malawi Stock Exchange. The listing aligns with Malawi’s Telecommunications and Broadcasting Licensing regulations of 2016.
Also, Kenya-based micro-insurtech Turaco has secured $1.2 million seed funding. Turaco will leverage the funding to develop new pilots and partner fintech companies.
Finally, Trulioo has launched its Digital Identity Verification Service for Nigeria and Ghana. The company aims to promote financial inclusion and create secure digital identities for Africans.
