Big News! Ethiopia’s parliament has passed a law that stipulates that people who post stuff that could stir up unrest gets jailed. The government said the law would help prevent violence ahead of elections, but the UN does not agree.

 

Drum roll! CcHUB’s 2nd edition of the Innovation showcase Week has kicked off with a bang. The event kicked off yesterday the 13th of February 2020, with eighteen startups showcasing their incredible innovations. Startups like Simbibot, Taeillo, Gricd, Vinsighte, etc. exhibited at the event.

 

Guess what? Weeks after the Lagos State government passed laws that restricted bikes and bike-hailing startups in the state, Gokada rebrands into a logistics company. It plans to launch GChop to handle parcel deliveries for now, and food delivery soon.

 

Also, data analytics and cloud marketing company, Terragon has launched a data software in Africa. They will leverage the software to provide exclusive brand experience to their customers.

 

Finally, WhatsApp has hit 2 billion users. This recent growth comes six years after Facebook acquired them. The growth places the company as the biggest messaging platform in the world.
