Drum roll! Innovate UK has granted $856,000 to three Kenya-based agritech startups. The startups will leverage the funding to scale SmartGFA– Africa’s first solar-powered greenhouse management system.

 

Call! Applications are open for the Anzisha Prize 2020. Young African entrepreneurs are expected to submit applications and stand to win $100,000 funding. The application closes on the 31st of March 2020. Apply here

 

Next stop, Tamatem, a mobile game publisher based in the Middle East and North Africa, has secured $3.5 million funding. It will leverage the funding to expand to underserved markets in the region.

 

 Also, i4Policy, Africa’s community of over 160 innovation hubs, has launched a continental consultation to scale its Africa Innovation Policy Manifesto. The policy will engage more than 10,000 persons between February and March 2020.

 

Finally, Google’s Google Station has shut down in South Africa. The free WiFI program was shut down barely three months after launch. Think WiFi will henceforth manage it.
