Big news! Africa’s first social startup studio launched a €60 million Janngo Capital Startup Fund. The Janngo Capital Startup Fund is for women in the African fintech startup space.

 

Next on the Big 5, global technology leader Honeywell partnered Etisalat Misr to deploy innovative technology in Egypt’s new smart city. The partnership will be a means to provide a smart city with management services. 

 

New research by Hindenburg has revealed that OPay runs the risk of being kicked out of the Google Playstore by Google. According to the research, OPay is offering predatory loans to users across Kenya, Nigeria and India.

 

Also, MFS Africa, a fintech company based in South Africa secured $1.2 million follow-on investment from FSD Africa investments. FSD Africa announced the funding round at the UK-Africa Investment summit.

 

Finally, it seems 2020 is going to be raining 5G in Africa. Liquid Telecoms and Safaricom revealed separate plans to unveil 5G Technology this year. Liquid Telecoms will unveil theirs in South Africa while Safaricom will do the same in Kenya.
