Topping the Big 5 today is the news that Lagos state government has banned all commercial motorcycle activities in some local governments. Come February 1, all commercial motorcycles, including Gokada, Max Okada, and ORide, will be banned from some affected routes.
Next on the Big 5, renewable energy company Rensource has secured a $3 million equity investment. They secured the funding from Proparco and the European Union. With this new funding, they will bridge the energy deficit gap in Nigeria.
Snapplify, an edtech startup based in South Africa, has deepened its service offerings with the launch of a teacher support program. The program will leverage its teacher empowerment tools to train educators.
Also, Grant Brooke Twiga Foods co-founder has stepped down from managing the company. He will henceforth remain on the company’s board of directors.
Finally, Facebook has yet again been fined €5 million for data breach and non-compliance for regulation. The Italy Authority lodged the recent fine.
