Drum roll!!! mCash transactions grew to a whooping N88.56 billion in 2019. The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics revealed the growth process was between October 2018 to September 2019, which is one year after mCash relaunched.
Did you hear? MTN Rwanda is phasing out physical airtime vouchers from the country. This move is in a bid to scale Rwanda’s digital adoption. Henceforth, Rwandese will purchase airtimes through digital means.
Zindi, a data science competition platform, is calling on students to apply for UmojaHack Africa Hackathon. UmojaHack Africa is a pan-African inter-university machine-learning hackathon. Applicants stand to win $2000 and $15000 for their school. It is open till the 6th of March 2020. Apply here.
Also, Gebeya Inc, a tech talent training and outsourcing company based in Ethiopia, has secured $2 million seed funding. Partech and Orange Digital Ventures co-led the round, with participation from Consonance Investment Managers.
Finally, the micro-blogging site, Twitter recorded $1.01 billion revenue in its Q4 2019 report. This revenue is the first billion the company is making in a quarter.
