For this week African Tech Roundup,
Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) partnered with both the British Council and Beetfreeks Collective in launching New Narratives Pilot. This will aid change the narrative between Africa and the UK.
Secondly, we reported that Huawei partnered with Safaricom to take 5G to Kenya. The deal fell through, even though Huawei is still not in the good books of the US government.
Great News! Kenya-based Sokowatch has raised $14 million Series A funding. The money will be used to overhaul its supply-chain market for the informal retail session in Africa.
To enhance customer service and create more jobs in Nairobi, Glovo has launched a technical center in Kenya. The food delivery company unveiled the center dubbed Glover Center this week.
Next, Jack Dorsey donated £5,000 to DevCareers, Google’s non-profit organization that trains software talents from Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. The Twitter boss support will help provide laptops and create an enabling learning environment for the developers.
Did you hear? Afirkrea has bagged $1 million funding! This fund will be utilized in expanding the Afrikrea team and its online marketplace.
So, Google will scale protection on android users Phone location data. They are reviewing processes that will confirm if apps really need to access your phones background location data.
Guess what? Netflix is in Nigeria! The video streaming platform through a twitter account @Netflixnaija announced their entrance. Nigeria might be getting Netflix Nollywood original series soon.
Also, Microsoft has exited Game Developers Conference. This is in a bid to contain the Coronavirus outbreak.
Finally, Facebook’s F8 annual developers conference has been cancelled. As against hosting people live, Facebook will be hosting the event online.
