Turku-based Comptek Solutions, a Finnish company boosting the efficiency of compound semiconductor devices, announced that it has secured €8M in a Series A round of funding.
The investment came from a key strategic partner in the consumer electronics industry, the Horizon Europe EIC Fund, and LIFTT S.p.A., an Italian venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments in startups and SMEs with high growth impact and ESG.
Comptek Solutions says it will use the funds to scale up its growth, push forward its technological advancements, and expedite the industrialization and deployment of its technology for upcoming applications in optoelectronics and power electronics.
Founded in 2017 by Jouko Lång and Vicente Calvo Alonso, Comptek Solutions originated from the University of Turku, Finland. The company claims to be a leader in passivation technology for the global semiconductor industry.
Its core technology, Kontrox, was developed by Lång and a team of material scientists and semiconductor engineers.
Comptek Solutions specializes in III-V compound semiconductor quantum surface engineering with their innovative Kontrox technology.
This technology significantly reduces interface defect state density, leading to enhanced efficiency and manufacturing yield for devices like opto- and power electronics.
Kontrox offers benefits such as improved gate voltages, quantum efficiency, and lower leak currents.
It eliminates the need for additional passivation processes due to its inert crystalline structures. Integration into existing manufacturing steps is simple, requiring minimal equipment changes.
Comptek’s solutions provide added value to epitaxial makers, foundries, and IDMs by increasing product competitiveness and reducing manufacturing costs.
