Lyon-based DataGalaxy, a Data Knowledge Catalog that helps organisations understand how their entire business runs on data, announced that it has raised $10M in a seed round of funding.

Besides fundraising, the company also announced that it has surpassed over 120 customers. Some of the clients include Dior, Swiss Life, Technip Energies, TotalEnergies, and Sephora, among others.

Founded in 2015 by Lazhar Sellami and Sébastien Thomas, DataGalaxy claims to be the industry’s first Data Knowledge Catalogue, assisting firms in understanding how data drives their whole organisation.

The company provides a user-centric platform dedicated to metadata mapping, active metadata management, and metadata knowledge sharing.

DataGalaxy’s approach to data governance and cataloguing enables organisations of all sizes to acquire control over their data assets and make better, more informed decisions.

Employees from all teams can cooperate by utilising centralised and homogenous data sets, thanks to a data catalogue.

With a semantic layer, the company’s data catalogue clarifies data definitions, synonyms, and critical business qualities so that all users can understand and exploit their data as an asset.

DataGalaxy says it is constantly innovating and expanding its product offering to meet the changing demands of organisations on their data literacy journeys.

DataGalaxy claims that the fresh funds will help expand its operations in the US, enhance its data product line, and accelerate its expansion plans.
