German satellite platform manufacturer Reflex Aerospace has announced the closing of a €50 million (approximately US $58.3 million) Series A funding round, positioning the company to expand its production capacity amid growing demand for defence- and intelligence-grade space infrastructure in Europe.
The funding round was led by Human Element and joined by investment partners including Alpine Space Ventures, Bayern Kapital, High‑Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), and Renovatio Financial Investments.
Reflex Aerospace said it will use the funds to ramp up manufacturing at its facility in Bavaria, Germany, to support the development and deployment of satellite constellations focused on optical earth-observation, synthetic-aperture radar (SAR), space-domain-awareness (SDA) and signals-intelligence (SIGINT) missions.
Reflex CEO Walter Ballheimer emphasised the urgency of Europe achieving sovereign access to space-based intelligence infrastructure: “Europe cannot afford to remain reliant on external actors for space-based intelligence … there is no time to waste.”
The company said it aims to have full deployment capability of its next-generation satellite platforms by 2027.
This funding round also sets a record in Europe’s “New Space” sector for a Series A across satellite manufacturing.
The round comes as the European defence and space community accelerates investment in sovereign manufacturing and resilient supply chains. Germany alone is planning to invest about €35 billion in space- and security-related programmes through 2030, according to the company announcement.
Observers say the deal underscores growing investor appetite for space-hardware firms in Europe, particularly those addressing high-complexity, dual-use missions that serve both commercial and defence markets.
