Fourteen African startups have been selected for the IMPULSE accelerator program in Morocco. The IMPULSE accelerator is a program aimed at agri-tech and biotech startups.
The accelerator was launched in July 2019 by the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The launch was in conjunction with OCP Group and its subsidiary OCP Africa.
IMPULSE accelerator aims to help agri-tech, biotech, nanotech and mining tech startups with 12 weeks of intensive training. The training will help them scale their business model. The program received over 350 applications from across 40 countries.

16 startups were selected out of the 350 applications. 14 of the applicants are African startups.
The 14 African Startups include;
Nigeria
- Farmcrowdy: an agritech startup that helps connect small-scale farmers to sponsors. The startup has over 25,000 farmers with operations across 14 states.
- Social Lender: a fintech startup that offers credit facilities to individuals based on their online social reputation.
- Coldhubs: a solar-powered cold room manufacturer. The startup provides solar-powered cold storage units to smallholder farmers.
- Foodlocker: an agritech startup that runs online and a physical agro-product store.
Ghana
- Esoko: a fintech startup.
- SAYeTECH: a smart farming solution startup.
- TroTro: a startup that provides farming equipment.
Kenya’s eProd Solutions and Safi Organics. Morocco’s Hydro Barley and Moldiag. Ivorian Lono, Malian SATGRIE, and Angolan AGROOP.
The program will commence on the 15th of January 2020 and end with a demo presentation on the 8th of April 2020. The startups stand a chance to win the $250,000 equity-free prize.
