The first tweet sent by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has been sold for $2.9 million to a Malaysian businessman, the CEO of the blockchain business Bridge Oracle and is headquartered in Malaysia.

The tweet is in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT), a type of one-of-a-kind digital asset that has gained a lot of traction in 2021.

Each NFT has its own blockchain-based digital signature, which acts as a public ledger that anyone can use to verify the asset’s authenticity and ownership.

Dorsey’s first tweet, “just setting up my twttr,” was sent on March 21, 2006.

Sina Estavi compared the purchase to purchasing a Mona Lisa painting.

The ether cryptocurrency was used to purchase the tweet.

The NFT was auctioned off on a website called Valuables, which is owned by Cent, a corporation headquartered in the United States.

Cameron Hejazi, the CEO of Cent, reported that it was purchased with the cryptocurrency Ether for 1630.5825601 ETH, which was worth $2,915,835.47 at the time of sale.

Dorsey will receive 95% of the proceeds from the sale, while Cent will receive 5%.

Mr. Dorsey stated that the proceeds would be converted to bitcoin and then donated to the Give Directly Africa Response fund.
