ACI Worldwide, a global payments software provider, has acquired Payment Components, a Greece‑based fintech specialising in open banking, API management and financial messaging technologies.
According to the announcement, Payment Components will be fully integrated into ACI’s cloud‑native unified payments platform, ACI Connetic, enhancing its account‑to‑account (A2A) payments, messaging and open‑banking capabilities.
Payment Components, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Greece, serves approximately 65 banks and financial institutions across 25 countries. Its software provides A2A payments, flexible messaging layers and generative AI‑enabled orchestration. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the acquisition is described as “not expected to be financially material” to ACI.
Thomas Warsop, President and CEO of ACI Worldwide, said the move “will further strengthen the capabilities of ACI Connetic, defining a new standard for how banks drive payment transformation and compete in the digital economy.” Sotiris Nossis, CEO and Founder of Payment Components, described the acquisition as a milestone for his team and said joining ACI will “reinforce the credibility we’ve built to empower financial institutions to adopt modern and reliable payment technologies seamlessly.”
The acquisition aligns with ACI’s strategy of accelerating its rollout of Connetic and expanding its footprint in the open‑banking and unified payments market. Connetic is positioned as a modular, cloud‑native payments engine that supports A2A, card processing and fraud prevention.
By integrating Payment Components’ messaging and API‑orchestration technologies, ACI aims to provide financial institutions with enhanced agility to deploy localised payment schemes, handle open‑banking demands and streamline back‑office connectivity.
The acquisition marks a further step in ACI’s broader push into open banking and real‑time payments infrastructure across Europe and other markets.
