Twelve African start-ups have graduated from Google’s first Launchpad Accelerator Africa class with developers from Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. See details here.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC has ordered telecommunication in the country to begin data rollover from June 26. This implies that telecom operators must henceforth add a subscriber’s unused data to their next data subscription.
In South Africa, the high court in Johannesburg has ruled that the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, ICASA could not implement the new data regulations surrounding out-of-bundle (OOB) billing and rollover data. Amazon is working on a new streaming TV device called, Amazon Fire TV Cube that will let users shout out when they want to turn on their TV, flip channels or search for sitcoms without pushing any buttons.
Last weekend, AfriLabs announced the admission of 40 new hubs; its largest hub admission to date into its network making it a total of 100 hubs across 30 African countries. This also extends the company’s reach to 6 new countries; Morocco, Algeria, Somali Land, Cote D’Ivoire, Angola and Mali.
