Tanzanian based agribusiness platform, Makaru Agro has won the Seedstars Tanga pitch event. Womenchoice, a social enterprise placed second while agritech start-up, Asante Mama placed third.
Makaru Agro will go ahead to pitch at Seedstars Dar es Salaam, where it will compete with other participants to get the chance to win Seedstars Tanzania.
Johannesburg-based developers: Aaron Rseke, Gift Mogeni and Mosima Matlhwana under the team name Authentic8 won the Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) and Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct‘s access management system challenge.
With the win, the three developers will receive R150, 000 and a seven-month long incubation period at the digital innovation precinct.
Niger government want to start using drones to protect the Addax antelopes in its Termit and Tin Toumma nature reserve. According to iAfrikan, the drones will be used to not only help monitor the endangered addax antelope, but also the dama gazelle and cheetahs that roam in the park.
Applicants can now apply for the World Bank’s L’Afrique Excelle accelerator programme, which is meant to support scalable tech ventures in Francophone Africa.
Some days back, we reported that World Bank Group launched Afrique Excelle, the Francophone edition of the XL Africa accelerator started in 2017. This is in partnership with the Tubaniso Agribusiness and Innovation Centre and managed by VC4A, Suguba and SahelInnov.
