Kenya Safaricom has announced the trial program of its new network coverage technology targeted at improving network coverage in urban areas. The initiative is called TubeStar Base Station and will replace the standard tower base station being used in Kenya.

After reporting yesterday that Dubai based ride-hailing company, Careem launches bus-booking service in Egypt, its major competitor, Uber is also reported to launch a bus-booking service in the country’s capital, Cairo. The company aims to tap into the city’s sprawling low-income market with this service.

From over 1600 application from around South Africa, five Cape Town start-ups have won Heavy Chef’s “SA Top 5 Most Exciting Startups of 2018”. The recognition aims to celebrate innovation and leadership in the SA tech community.

In its quest to make its service available across Africa, Gabonese based event ticketing startup, Tikkeo has been launched in Ivory Coast. The startup allows organisers to promote their events and sell tickets online, with attendees paying via mobile.
