According to City Press, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa in his ‘state of the nation’ address next month will declare a major facelift of the education system. This will mandate the government to give out tablets to every primary and secondary school student and also, unveil a computer coding and robotics class for grades 1 to 3.
Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) reports have specified that Nigeria’s electronic payment (e-payment) services hit a record N56.85 trillion transactions from January to September, 2018. As cited on News Agency of Nigeria, it indicated an upsurge of N16.4 trillion when compared to the N40.45 trillion that was recorded in the corresponding period of 2017.
All these electronic transactions were mostly carried out via NIBSS Instant Payment (NIP), Point of Sale (PoS), Automated Transfer Machines (ATMs), Mobile Money, Electronic Bills Payment (E-Bills) and Web payments.
MENAbytes reports that Dubai’s e-commerce company, Noon is planning to launch in Egypt by the end of Q2 this year. The company has already engaged people from diverse teams like Logistics, Account Management, HR, Marketing, and are also keenly poaching capacity from local competitors.
It also revealed that the company is in talks with different vendors including some big names to add their products to the platform.
Senegal Start-up Accelerator has picked five Agri-tech start-ups for its accelerator programme. The accelerator which is run by Kosmos Innovation Centre and Reach for Change will provide the start-ups with six months’ incubation and US$2,000 seed funding.
It aims to support young Senegalese entrepreneurs with innovative ideas tackling the challenges facing the agriculture sector using technology.
Private data of many German political figures and top-notch individuals including Chancellor Angela Merkel have been leaked online. This seems to be one of Germany’s most extensive data breaks.
The data was disclosed from a Twitter account, @hatr, which has been proscribed. The leaked include, email addresses, phone numbers, photo IDs and other personal data of these individuals.
