The Rwandan government is inviting African tech startups working in mobility, housing, or fintech to apply for the Smart Cities Innovation Program (SCIP).

The Smart Cities Innovation Program, a 6-month accelerator aimed at helping high-potential tech start-ups from Rwanda and other African countries working in the field of Smart Cities.

Individual mentoring, training, and intensive networking and matchmaking with international business partners and investors will be given to the 30 selected start-ups.

Green City Kigali, Rwanda’s flagship smart city project, will also be a real application case for these start-ups to test their solutions and reach the Rwandan market.

The Smart Cities Innovation Programme (SCIP) was created in collaboration with the Rwandan government and the Tech-Entrepreneurship Initiative “Make-IT in Africa” to support the growth of digital urban innovations in Rwanda and beyond.

SCIP is being launched in partnership with a number of partners, including Volkswagen, Siemens, and the African Business Angels Network (ABAN), to bring in highly specialized technological expertise and develop start-up networks.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is fully funding the program.

SCIP is completely free to join, including any possible trips to Rwanda.

Applications will be accepted until May 9th.

The program will run from June to December 2021.

Visit the scipafrica.com website to apply or learn more.
