OceanHub Africa has opened applications for the seventh edition of its 12-month accelerator programme, inviting African ocean-impact ventures to apply for the cohort set to support up to 24 startups focused on solutions that preserve and restore ocean health, multiple sources reported.
The Cape Town-based initiative targets for-profit startups developing technologies, services or business models that address critical challenges such as ocean pollution, overexploitation of marine resources and climate-related impacts on coastal ecosystems.
Organisers said the programme will run through two intakes in March and July 2026 and will offer a hybrid format combining in-person bootcamp sessions, participation in the annual Ocean Innovation Africa Summit and ongoing remote support.
Selected participants will gain access to a global ocean-impact ecosystem, including networking with ocean experts, mentors and impact investors, as well as practical support to accelerate growth and scale market entry. Benefits include up to US $75,000 in AWS credits and more than US $40,000 in engineering design software licences for prototyping and testing.
OceanHub Africa’s accelerator is part of a broader effort to support the emerging blue economy across the continent by fostering startups that contribute to economic development while safeguarding marine ecosystems.
Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis through December 30, 2025, with eligibility open to ventures that have a minimum viable product and demonstrate commercial and environmental potential, organisers said.
