Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is now accepting applications for its eighth cohort.
This year’s programme will highlight startups in Africa that are using AI and ML to solve pressing problems and open up opportunities to new opportunities.
A three-month virtual programme called Google for startups Accelerator Africa offers equity-free access to a global network of investors and experts, as well as technical tools and mentorship to African startups.
The programme has supported 106 companies from 17 African nations since it began in 2018.
“We’re excited to support the next generation of African AI pioneers through the Google for Startups Accelerator, providing them with the resources and mentorship they need to build successful, impactful businesses,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of the startup ecosystem for Africa at Google. “Africa’s tech ecosystem is a hotbed of innovation, and AI has the potential to be a transformative force across various sectors.”
The programme, which will run from June to September 2024, will give selected ventures access to up to US$350,000 in Google Cloud credits; individualised guidance from seasoned businesspeople, Google AI experts, and industry leaders; comprehensive training on product strategy, scaling, and AI/ML development; connections to potential partners, investors, and customers; and a supportive network of other founders going through similar opportunities and challenges.
