Village Capital, a leading global supporter of impact-driven startups, has announced the launch of the second edition of its Greentech Africa Accelerator Program, aimed at empowering early-stage startups developing solutions to combat climate change across the continent.
The program, launched in partnership with IFC’s Climate Innovation Fund and supported by several regional impact investors, will select 15 promising greentech startups from across Sub-Saharan Africa to participate in a three-month acceleration journey. Selected ventures will receive expert mentorship, investment readiness training, and access to a global network of investors and corporate partners.
“Our goal with the Greentech Africa Accelerator is to support the next generation of climate innovators solving Africa’s most pressing environmental challenges,” said Allie Burns, CEO of Village Capital. “We’re excited to double down on this effort after the overwhelming success and impact of the first cohort.”
Startups working in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, circular economy, water management, and carbon reduction technologies are encouraged to apply. This year’s program will also emphasize solutions that are not only environmentally impactful but also create jobs and strengthen local economies.
Participants will go through Village Capital’s signature peer-selected investment process, where the cohort itself ranks the most investment-ready startups. The top two ventures will each receive $50,000 in grant funding to help scale their operations.

As climate change intensifies its impact across Africa, Village Capital’s renewed commitment to greentech entrepreneurship offers a timely boost for founders tackling some of the planet’s most urgent problems.
Applications for the program are now open, with the accelerator scheduled to kick off in July 2025. Startups from Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and other key innovation hubs are expected to apply.
