Visa has officially launched applications for the fifth cohort of its Africa Fintech Accelerator, a high-impact three-month programme designed to support early-stage fintech startups across the continent.
This initiative offers mentorship, tailored training, access to Visa’s technology tools, and opportunities for strategic investment. Startups concluding the programme may be considered for funding from Visa or Plug and Play, and Demo Day is attended by regional and global investors.
Eligible companies include seed‑ to Series A startups operating in Africa with a minimum viable product and market traction. The application process involves two rounds: initial screening for alignment and traction, followed by virtual interviews for shortlisted applicants.
The programme is delivered over 12 weeks in a hybrid model, comprising an onboarding week, 10 virtual focus weeks, investor week and an in-person Demo Day. Participants may receive product perks and incentives from over 100 technology vendors valued at over US $200,000.
Since its launch in June 2023, the Accelerator has supported dozens of startups across the continent, contributing to Visa’s broader commitment to invest US $1 billion in Africa’s digital transformation by 2027.
Applications are open through August 15, 2025. Startups will be notified after virtual interviews, with selected entrants invited to participate in the full programme.
The Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator continues to play a significant role in shaping Africa’s fintech ecosystem, providing startups with the tools and access needed to scale across the continent and beyond.
