Mbali Health team from Kenya have emerged as the Middle East and Africa regional winners for their Mbali Health Application designed to help Kenyan patients connect with healthcare service providers while maintaining social distance in the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic.
As the regional winners, the team will be awarded a $5,000 prize money that will be used to further develop and deploy the application with the inclusion of audio and image for better interaction on the app with support from the IBM technical team.
The application is backed by IBM Cloud Hyper Protect Virtual Servers and Hyper Protect DBaas with MongoDB, a simple chat interface that gives the patients easy access to healthcare providers through WhatsApp.
Mbali Health also gets to join Call for Code’s ecosystem, which connects the world’s millions of developers and data scientists to unleash the power of the cloud, AI, blockchain, and IoT technologies to solve pressing global problems with sustainable and scalable open source-powered technologies.
