NBS Bank, Malawi’s leading commercial bank, is launching its state-of-the-art e-commerce platform, driven by Network International (www.Network.ae), the leading digital trade facilitator in Africa and the Middle East.

NBS Bank will be able to give Malawian small and medium enterprises (SMEs), large companies, public institutions and individuals a fast and safe way of accessing the rapidly rising e-commerce sector in Malawi with the introduction of Network International’s N-GeniusTM Online payment gateway.

Network International has been at the core of pushing the adoption of digital payments across Africa and the Middle East, providing end-to-end payment solutions in over 50 countries to an increasing customer base. With the ability to allow digital commerce transactions through the N-GeniusTM Online payment gateway for merchants and public organizations, NBS Bank and Network International will help push the aim of Malawi to become a cash-lite economy. The service is another example of the bank’s investment in supporting the growth of its clients and of the Malawian economy as a whole, enhancing its role as a leading innovator in the financial services sector.

Kwanele Ngwenya, Chief Executive Officer, NBS Bank, Malawi, said: “The fastest-growing form of trade in the world is e-commerce.” We have launched a world class e-commerce platform with the leading payment solutions provider, Network International, recognizing its position as a key driver of growth for our company.

We are offering a sophisticated, but low-cost solution as a first for Malawi, which will not only help to expand, but will further engage our customer base and help drive online trade across many segments of the population in Malawi.

“Network International already enjoys a long-term, successful relationship with NBS, having helped the bank deliver many innovative products to its customers over the years, including both local processing and connectivity to international card schemes,” said Andrew Key, Managing Director, Network International Africa. Network is proud to give NBS the latest state-of-the-art technology through the use of our patented N-Genius platform.

Through technology-driven innovation, NBS has always challenged conventional banking offerings and we are delighted to help them as they aim to increase the acceptance of online payments among the population of Malawi and the SADC (South African Development Community) region.
