Blackberry announced the extension of its strategic alliance with Baidu, whose high-definition maps will run on the real-time operating system (RTOS) of QNX® Neutrino® and will be mass-produced from the EV arm of the GAC Group in the upcoming GAC New Energy Aion models.
Baidu is one of the few high-definition map vendors with TÜV Rheinland’s Automotive SPICE® certification, an industry certification that meets strict software development process criteria for Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive suppliers. Baidu’s high-definition maps, with world-leading data granularity levels, provide a crucial component for global automakers aiming to deploy connected and autonomous vehicles in China for the next decade.
A robust real-time microkernel operating system, the QNX Neutrino RTOS foundation for Baidu’s high-definition maps, offers deterministic efficiency as well as flexibility to overcome the embedded system’s limited resources.
BlackBerry QNX delivers state-of-the-art fundamental applications and cybersecurity solutions to OEMs and Tier 1s around the world as the pioneer in safe, stable, and reliable software for critical embedded systems. In more than 175 million vehicles on the road, BlackBerry QNX technology is used in their advanced driver assistance (ADAS), digital instrument clusters, communication modules, hands-free, and infotainment systems.
