Elon Musk launched an AI bot Grok to compete with ChatGPT, stating the prototype is already more advanced than ChatGPT 3.5.

Musk’s xAI startup has released its first product, termed Grok, and is currently undergoing beta testing with a select set of users.

According to the company website, Grok is being created using data from X, formerly Twitter, and is, therefore, more up-to-date on the newest advances than alternative bots with static datasets.

According to the statement, it’s also intended to respond “with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak.”

With just two months of training behind it, the prototype is currently in its early beta phase and accessible for testing to a small group of users prior to a wider distribution by the company.

Users can join a waiting list to get access to the bot when it becomes available. Musk has stated that Grok will be included in the $16 monthly X Premium+ plan in the near future.

Musk was one of the signatories to a petition earlier this year that demanded a halt to the advancement of AI models to enable the creation of standard safety guidelines.

Musk has previously raised concerns about the rate of AI development and the technology’s potential to profoundly impact human society for the worst.

As additional data from X’s users feeds Grok, xAI said it expects it to advance quickly.
