In a significant stride towards establishing the UAE as a global leader in artificial intelligence and robotics, Nvidia and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) have inaugurated the region’s first joint AI and robotics research laboratory. This collaboration, announced today, marks the establishment of the first Nvidia AI Technology Center in the Middle East.
The newly launched TII–Nvidia AI Technology Centre (NVAITC) will focus on developing next-generation AI models and robotics platforms. The lab aims to integrate Nvidia’s advanced AI models and computing power with TII’s multidisciplinary research capabilities to drive advancements in AI and its integration with robotics across various sectors.
A key component of the initiative is the deployment of Nvidia’s new Thor chip, designed specifically for advanced robotic systems. This collaboration will enable the development of adaptable and intelligent machines capable of reasoning, adapting, and acting in complex environments.
This partnership aligns with the UAE’s broader strategy to position itself as a global leader in AI and robotics innovation. The establishment of the NVAITC underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge technological research and development.
The initiative also supports the UAE’s ambition to strengthen technological sovereignty and expand its role in the global AI and robotics ecosystem. TII’s existing modular robotic platforms, such as robotic arms and delivery dogs, will provide testbeds for practical research and innovation.
The launch of the TII–Nvidia AI Technology Centre represents a significant milestone in the UAE’s efforts to lead in AI and robotics. By combining Nvidia’s advanced computing technologies with TII’s research expertise, the partnership is poised to drive innovations that will have far-reaching impacts across various sectors, including healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing.
As the lab begins its operations, it is expected to attract top-tier talent and foster collaborations that will further enhance the UAE’s position in the global AI and robotics landscape.
