The Green Changemakers Challenge is a worldwide innovation challenge open to solutions that are helping to equip others with the mentality and competencies to contribute towards building a sustainable and fair future, and this year they are inviting African startups to apply.
The initiative is looking for “green changemakers” who are making it easier for more people to make contributions, transforming data into stories that motivate people to take action, and building infrastructure to bolster already existing solutions.
The Green Changemakers Challenge, which is being run by Ashoka in partnership with HSBC, will fund initiatives that assist individuals and communities identify the part they can play in combating the climate catastrophe and ensuring that no one is left behind.
With a total prize pool of $225,000, the challenge will give innovators grants of up to US$25,000 and the chance to go on a learning expedition with the HSBC and Ashoka teams.
Up to 12 winners of the challenge will be chosen to reflect the variety of applications from the three main areas and geographical areas.
