Microsoft and Tech4Dev have teamed up to provide digital skills to girls in Africa

Microsoft and Tech4dev have initiated a training program for girls and women in Africa.

The initiative aims to close the digital and technological gap in Africa so that everyone has equal access to opportunities.

The Women Techstars Initiative is aimed at young women aged 16 to 40 in 54 African countries.

Technical skills such as product design, software development, AI engineering, data science, and cybersecurity will be the subject of this training.

Several boot camps, open days, and masterclasses will be offered as part of a virtual curriculum aimed at women and girls across Africa.

The aim is to use technology to help them advance in their careers and expand their businesses.

Ghada Khalifa, Regional Director of Microsoft Philanthropies MEA, explained how empowering women in the ICT industry not only fosters creativity but also creates economic opportunities.

The program will last a year and will include a three-month training program, a six-month internship, and eventually enrollment in a training program.

“When we empower girls and women in the ICT industry, through greater access to skills and training.

We not only unlock creativity, but also economic opportunities,” Ghada Khalifa, Regional Director- Microsoft Philanthropies MEA, said in her opening remarks.

Adding that “when we empower girls and women in the ICT industry, through greater access to skills and training, we not only unlock innovation, but also economic opportunities.”

“At first, we’re launching the project in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt, and we’re looking forward to seeing how we can fulfill our goal of empowering participating girls and women to achieve more.

We know that when women are given the opportunity to completely participate, society as a whole benefits,” Khalifa concludes.
