The success of technology advancement of a nation is hinged on the spread of ICT education, infrastructure and the volume of support the industry can get from the government and the private sector. With the huge investments made by banks and other corporate organizations in Fashion, Entertainment and the retail market; the Technology Space begs for even more attention. This is one of the key factors as to why Diamond Bank and her partners are leveraging on existing business relationships to convey the doers and shakers of the Tech Industry in Nigeria for TechFest ‘18, which kicked off yesterday at Landmark Centre in Lagos.
The Chief Executive, Diamond Bank Plc, Uzoma Dozie while speaking with the TechGist Africa Crew during the ongoing Techfest in Lagos explained that their goal is to help their customers and entreprises leverage on relationships forged from the event. He said “We are not investing in technology but we are investing in relationships so that we can provide better services to our customers’’. He continued ‘’We are just investing in and leveraging on relationships so that for example, our relationship with MTN is about using their resources so that we can reach customers or potential customers in area we could not reach before in a cost-effective manner’’.
“The whole idea of Techfest is to create awareness that this is what is happening in Nigeria and we are not sleeping here. We actually have great entrepreneurs and innovators doing great things. That’s why we have the battle of the hubs and we have people in different sectors creating solutions for businesses.” He said.
When asked about why Nigeria Is lagging behind in the technology space among their contemporaries in Africa and the world, he said, “Nigeria is not lagging behind. That’s why Techfest is to show the world that we have a lot of innovations and creativities in Nigeria and we also have the platform to showcase it. This is a festival to showcase our strides and how far we have come in technology innovation and entrepreneurship’’. He also advised Africa tech entrepreneur to be consistent and creative about their products, emphasizing on providing key innovative solutions to the many challenges of Nigeria.
