Envisionit Deep AI, a South African e-health startup, has secured US$1.65 million in funding to launch its next stage of expansion.
After being voted the Southern Africa regional winner at the African Startup Awards, Envisionit Deep AI received funding from New GX Ventures SA as well as an undisclosed amount from the GIIG Africa Fund.
Envisionit Deep AI was founded in 2019 by Dr. Jaishree Naidoo, Andrei Migatchev, and Terence Naidu. The company creates cutting-edge medical solutions that use AI to revolutionize how healthcare professionals diagnose and treat patients.
The company is advancing medical imaging diagnostics through products like its RADIFY AI technology, which will help in the early detection and treatment of a number of diseases, including tuberculosis, coronavirus pneumonia, and breast cancer, among others.
“Healthcare services are in extremely high demand throughout Africa, notably in the area of medical diagnostics. We screened and triaged 64,351 patients in 2022 alone, including 44,529 pneumonia cases, 1,635 tuberculosis cases, and 127,151 other diseases. But this is only the beginning; the huge need and demand simply cannot be met by the current system, according to Naidoo.
The startup will use the funds to address urgent shortages in the healthcare industry in Africa and emerging markets and democratize access to diagnostic imaging using AI.
