iDO Devices Private Limited, a full-stack original design manufacturer in India, has secured US$4 million( in a funding round led by Blume Ventures and Merak Ventures.

The investment will help iDO Devices build and scale an integrated design-to-delivery ecosystem, including setting up an innovation centre in India.

The funding  aims to accelerate development in hardware (chipset design, PCB layout), firmware, systems software, as well as ramping up customer acquisition, IP (intellectual property) creation, and global reach.

The product roadmap includes devices with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi today, with plans to expand into GPS and GSM technologies.

Key Players & Context

The raise is a strong indicator of investor confidence in India’s product-technology ecosystem beyond software and services. Full-stack hardware design, firmware, embedded systems are much tougher bets, so success here could unlock more in this category. By aiming to produce its own SoCs in future, iDO Devices is trying to move up the value chain, which tends to bring more R&D, deeper IP, and potential for higher margins. The global product design & fulfilment market is estimated to hit US$15 billion by 2025, and India is positioning to take a bigger share.

This funding round places iDO Devices among a growing group of hardware-led startups in India aiming to turn the country into a global ODM/innovation hub.
