MDaaS Global, a Nigerian e-health startup operating a rapidly expanding healthcare network has received US$3 million in funding for its Pre-Series A round to advance the development of its patented BeaconOS technology platform.
Aruwa Capital Management and Newtown Partners, a follow-on investor, co-led the funding round, which also included Ventures Platform, one of the company’s original institutional investors.
With this latest round of funding, MDaaS Global has received a total of $6.8 million in investment.
After opening its first diagnostic clinic for underprivileged communities in 2017, MDaaS Global was established and has since grown to 17 locations in 10 states in Nigeria. It has serviced over 275,000 patients to date and currently supports over 1,300 healthcare facilities, businesses, and HMOs that depend on its BeaconHealth platform for their diagnostic needs. This is achieved through a combination of its distributed care network and technological backbone.
The newest technology offered by the company, called BeaconOS, acts as the “hardware” or digital spine of MDaaS Global’s healthcare network. It functions similarly to an operating system on a computer, optimizing and connecting the company’s physical clinics. A suite of applications built on top of BeaconOS are intended to digitally interact with the company’s wide network of partner organizations and to expedite healthcare delivery at BeaconHealth clinics.

The company plans to use this funding infusion to create new BeaconOS applications that address important problems facing the healthcare sector.
The extra funding will go towards expanding the company’s healthcare network to all 36 states in Nigeria via a combination of company-owned and affiliate clinics, as well as towards developing its in-house technology platform, BeaconOS, which it introduced last year.
With this calculated action, MDaaS Global gets one step closer to realizing its goal of democratizing access to top-notch medical care and diagnostics throughout the continent.
