RNR, a South African breakdown management startup, has raised US$555,000) to assist its growth and African expansion.

RNR is a breakdown management firm with technology that mobilizes a network of nationwide providers to service whole fleets at the push of a button.

RNR, which stands for “Right Now Response,” is an on-demand breakdown management and analytics platform that was founded in 2019.

The startup has received a US$555,000 investment, of which the Cape Town-based VC firm HAVAC contributed US$511,000.

The company offers truck fleet managers and truck OEMs breakdown help through its nationwide network of vetted technicians, electricians, and repair facilities by using technology to match supply with demand.

By enlisting the assistance of its closest subcontractor, RNR not only drastically reduces response times but also completes 70% of repairs on the spot, preventing costly towing and freight delays.

Clients get access to real-time location tracking and 24/7 breakdown visibility via the app and web interface from acceptance to roadside and workshop repair.

RNR CEO Wayne Witherspoon expressed his company’s extreme excitement about the partnership with HAVAC. We know that we are in very good hands and we are eager to share our technology with the rest of Africa. As fleet owners, we look forward to fostering innovation in the industry by assisting others in reducing unwanted costs and delays. Also, our methodology increases business for all of our nationwide subcontractors, especially those in rural areas.

RNR has supported more than 25,000 breakdowns for nearly 1,200 transporters since its start.

The business plans to spread across South Africa and into other regions of the continent over the next five years.
