In a strategic move to bolster Nigeria’s digital economy, data centre operator Rack Centre has partnered with global edge-cloud platform EdgeNext to launch a content-delivery network (CDN) and cloud-hosting services hosted within Rack Centre’s Lagos facility.
Under the agreement, EdgeNext’s CDN and cloud hosting platforms will be deployed at Rack Centre’s LGS2 data centre site in Lagos, a carrier-neutral, Tier III facility offering 12 MW capacity across six halls.
EdgeNext says the new infrastructure is designed to deliver “low-latency digital experiences for video, social media and e-commerce platforms” in Nigeria, while enabling local businesses and developers to deploy cloud services closer to end-users and scale more efficiently.
Rack Centre’s CEO, Lars Johannisson, described the arrangement as reinforcing Nigeria’s readiness as a digital hub, citing the LGS2 facility’s direct connectivity to submarine-cable landings and its sustainable power-usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35.
The partnership comes amid rising internet penetration and demand for digital services in Nigeria, where businesses increasingly require robust infrastructure to serve growing audiences and data-heavy applications.
Industry watchers say the collaboration is noteworthy for several reasons:
- It signals confidence by international-grade edge-cloud players in Nigeria’s market potential.
- For local tech-ecosystem players – startups, fintech firms, gaming platforms, media operations – the availability of locally hosted, high-performance CDN/cloud services may reduce latency, cost and regulatory complexity.
- The infrastructure upgrade aligns with Nigeria’s broader ambition to become a regional digital-services hub within Africa.
The formal launch date for full commercial availability was cited as November 10, 2025.
Moving forward, Rack Centre and EdgeNext plan to extend their services into edge computing use cases across fintech, education, healthtech and smart-city applications.
