Greenroom, Spotify’s live audio app, is the company’s response to the popular Clubhouse platform.

Greenroom allows users to participate in live conversations or host their own.

After acquiring Betty Labs, the company behind the famous sports-themed audio platform Locker Room, Spotify launched Greenroom.

The Spotify Greenroom app is based on the existing Locker Room code.

The Locker Room app will be updated to become the rebranded and revamped Greenroom experience for current Locker Room customers.

Although, other tech firms have entered the live audio arena as well, with Twitter launching Spaces and Facebook hosting Live Audio Rooms, respectively.

The Spotify Greenroom feature set is comparable to that of other live audio services such as Clubhouse, Twitter (Spaces), and Facebook (Live Audio Rooms).

Speakers in the room are represented by rounded profile icons at the top of the screen, while listeners are represented by smaller symbols below.

Mute controls, moderation controls, and the opportunity to bring listeners onstage during the live audio session are all available.

Up to 1,000 persons can be accommodated in each room.

Spotify itself is recording the live audio sessions. This is for moderation purposes, according to the company, which is a challenge for other live audio platforms.

Spotify Greenroom will be moderated by the company’s existing content moderation team, the company stated.

Greenroom is now available on iOS and Android. At the For the moment , it is also only available in the English language.

Spotify subscribers will login in with their existing account details to access the new app.
