Big news! AfriLabs and ABAN (African Business Angel Network) has collaborated to launch Catalyst—a cross-stakeholder initiative that aims to increase funding for startups in Africa. Catalyst also aims to support the startup ecosystem including hubs and angel network.
Guess what? Nine Agritech startups have been selected for Village Capital’s Agriculture Africa Accelerator program. Two winners will stand the chance of winning $50000 each, at the end of the accelerator program. The selected startups include; Akellobanker, Agro Supply, Capture, Raino Tech4Impact, Aywajieune, Complete Farmer, eMsika, ReelFruit, and Volta Irrigation.
Next on the Big 5, DappRadar a global platform that tracks and analyses blockchain-based decentralized applications (dapps) based in Lithuania has secured $2.33 funding from Naspers. The company intends to leverage the funding round to scale growth and expansion.
Also, the third edition of the MAN Impact Accelerator program is open for application. This opportunity is open to startups with disruptive ideas in the mobility sector. The accelerator is organized by MAN Truck & Bus and in partnership with Yunus Social Business. It is an eight-month mentorship program that focuses on impact, purpose, growth, customer development, marketing, investment, and product innovation.
Finally, DHL- a global logistics company has expanded Africa eShop— its online eCommerce business to 13 new markets. This expansion upgrades its African presence to 34. The expansion cuts across; Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Ethiopia, Guinea, Lesotho, Namibia, Niger, Sudan, Togo, and Zimbabwe. The company intends to expand across all 54 African countries in the future.
