According to a research note by Barclays and cited on MacRumors, Apple INC. will no longer pack its 3.5mm to Lightning port headphone dongle with 2018 iPhone models.
Close to two years now that Apple released the iPhone 7 without a headphone jack, making users who want to use wired headphones to plug them into the Lightning connector using an adapter included in the iPhone box.
iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X also includes the adapter in the box, but more evidence has suggested that the trend will soon end.
The Barclays’ research note claims that Cirrus Logic, a supplier for the dongle has “confirmed” that it won’t be included in the box alongside 2018 iPhones.
The rumours also suggest that new iPads will also lose the headphone jack and adapter.

Apple Is Pushing for Wireless Future
Apple has been trying to move away from wired headphones with its AirPods and line-up of wireless Beats headphones, so the move shouldn’t come as a surprise. The dongle was always meant as a stopgap while customers adjusted to the new, headphone jack-less reality that Apple imposed on the world.
Not everyone prefers wireless headphones, like AirPods, however, if the removal of the adapter will generate some controversy Apple will likely sell the adapter as a standalone accessory for $9, which is cheap by its standards, so customers at least won’t be forced to pay too much extra for the adapter if it is indeed removed from the box this year.
