According to a report from the MasterCard Foundation titled Digital Commerce and Youth Employment in Africa, African eCommerce will generate up to 500 billion USD by year 2030, which will add about 16.7% to the continents economy. This boom will likely affect up to 80 million new workers which is more than 13% of the projected African labor force. The growth will also build the labor force of logistics and payment firms.
This growth however, will be available for the firms that will be around in 2030 because the total addressable market (TAM) would grow over time. African migration from the rural to urban areas would also have a significant impact on the growth of the sector in the future.
