Avanti and MainOne have come to an agreement to improve broadband penetration within Nigeria by making available the latest KA-band based satellite communication services to enterprises in remote areas of the country.

MainOne is to grasp on Avanti’s newly launched satellite HYLAS 4 to allow high flexible 100% capacity services coverage within Nigeria. This coverage will speed up the time to establish internet broadband services into rural areas that were difficult to reach.

The collaboration encompasses the deployment of Avanti’s ECO initiative, which includes broadband access, solar power and embedded Wi-Fi services for schools and small communities which are ideal for establishment in remote parts of the country where power availability and connectivity services are a challenge. The partnership is backed with the commissioning and launch of Avanti’s new Gateway Earth Station (GES) in Nigeria which was hosted at MainOne’s Tier III Data Centre ‘MDXi’.

Beyond connecting institutions, Avanti’s ECO solution also addresses the needs of their immediate communities and will accelerate getting more of our rural communities online.”
